The year 2011 is coming to its end and it is time to thank You all for the year. VicarART will close it's doors and the Finnish Seamen's Church will move to a new address. But before that let's all join to celebrate the last exhibition opening of the year: Irja Ahtovirta - A Bit of Batik.

Exhibition Opening Sanna Karlsson-Sutisna: Paintings
You are welcome to the exhibition opening that will take place on Thursday the 29th of September at VicarART Gallery.
Information about the artist:
Sanna Karlsson-Sutisna (MA) is a dance and visual artist who graduated from the Finnish Art Academy in 1989. Her professional experience includes studies at the Berlin High School of Arts, as well as further studies in Cuba and Bali. She has focused on studying the roots of art in ritual cultures. She is best known for bringing art to everyday life by performing and sculpting in surprising places, for her environmental art, and for creating permanent “Flower of Life” art parks in Helsinki and France for children under 3 and their families. She has combined images, sculpture and dance to suffuse her performances with ritual form and multicultural elements, enriching Finnish art and everyday life. Her expert knowledge of Balinese culture and dance add depth and conviction to her work. Karlsson-Sutisna has held solo-exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions since 1979, and given dance performances in both her home country Finland (Kuopio Dance Festival) and abroad, in Germany, Denmark, Russia, Sweden, Austria, Poland, England, Indonesia and Cuba.
Karlsson-Sutisna’s art searches for an increasingly deep unity with nature. She sends roots down deep into the earth and draws on the traditions of our ancestors and her own experiences of Balinese life. Cuban and European life is also an essential part of her work as a source of power and inspiration from which new works emerge. She has been painting and sculpting from an early age; already as a 12-year-old she was painting impressionist landscapes and portraits under her father’s guidance, and she is today also known professionally as a portrait artist.
Her works are part of both public and private collections.

Huhtikuun näyttely: Paratiisin Hedelmiä - April exhibition: Fruit of Paradise

Eeva Rousku's intimate oil-pastel-quasse paintings shakes hands gently with Eeva Aaltio-Lumivuori's inquisitive mind made acrylic paintings. There is room for interpretation. Nature that is all around us is the value that provides us with such fruits of the earth. As long as we live in a responsible relationship of creation to redeem us the right to enjoy its fruits. This exhibition gives an honor to natures products with gratitude.

Hanna Varis on yksi Suomen nykytaiteen tämänhetkisistä kärkinimistä. Hän on mm. Suomen taidemaalariliiton ja Suomen taidegraafikot ry:n jäsen. Hän on pitänyt Yli kuusikymmentä yksityisnäyttelyä Suomessa ja muualla Euroopassa. Hän on osallistunut n.125:een kutsu, yhteis- ja ryhmänäyttelyyn Suomessa sekä ulkomailla, esim. Kuubassa, Egyptissä, Ranskassa ja Islannissa. Galleria Vicarart:iin Hanna Varis tuo kokoelman taidegrafiikkaa, uutta ja aiempaa tuotantoa. Viime keväänä Hanna Variksen näyttely galleria Maaret Finnbergillä herätti paljon huomiota, koska esillä oli laajasti Variksen itse kehittelemään etsaus tekniikkaa: kultaa mustalle paperille. Näitä teoksia tulee esille myös galleria Vicarartiin.
Hanna Varis is one of the top names of Graphic Arts in Finland today. She has had over 60 solo exhibitions in Finland and abroad and participated in over 125 group exhibitions around the world. All the most important art collections in Finland, such as Kiasma and Helsinki Art Museum, include her work.

Huhtikuun näyttely: PESÄ / New exhibition in April: The PESÄ Group
VicarART -Gallerian huhtikuun näyttely: Taiteilijaryhmä PESÄ.
Ryhmän jäsenet, Maisa van der Kolk, Kirsti Ijäs-de Fluiter, Inez van Leeuwen, Minna Räty, Karen Santen, Katri Schweitzer, Liisa Verasdonck, Marjatta Ranta-Iso, Raija Newton ja Paula Nordfors asuvat Hollannissa, Suomessa tai Englannissa. Suomi on heidän synnyinmaansa tai inspiraationsa lähde. Suomi kaikkine ominaisuuksineen; yksinäisyys, valo, luonto, kylmyys, karuus, musiikki, värit ja muodot. Nämä kaikki tulevat esille näyttelyssä, jossa on esillä maalauksia, veistoksia, keramiikkaa, installatioita, grafiikkaa, valokuvia ja huovutustöitä.
In April, VicarART Gallery will host an exhibition of the PESÄ-group.
Maisa van der Kolk, Kirsti Ijäs-de Fluiter, Inez van Leeuwen, Minna Räty, Karen Santen, Katri Schweitzer, Liisa Verasdonck, Marjatta Ranta-Iso, Raija Newton and Paula Nordfors are the members of the PESÄ-group. Most of the PESÄ artists live in The Netherlands, others in England or Finland. Finland, the country of the artist’s origin is the inspiration for PESÄ- members. Finnish nature, colours, shapes and the atmosphere of northern light and silence are the topics of the art works of this exhibition. Artworks include sculpture, paintings, ceramics, installations, graphics, photography and felt.
Avajaisissa voi kuunnella Marjatta Ranta-Ison, Maisa van der Kolkin ja Hans Krommen esittämää joikua ja kansanmusiikkia. Konsertti on ilmainen.

At the opening you will also hear Finnish folk music performed by Marjatta Ranta-Iso, Maisa van der Kolk and Hans Kromme. The concert is free of charge as is the opening, which will take place on the 1st April 2010 from 18.00 to 20.00. For which you are kindly invited!
